DIDA Diagnostics Imaging Competition
Build your microscope, capture some images, and win prizes!
As part of the Digital Innovation for Development in Africa (DIDA) programme, we are running a competition to promote interest in low-cost diagnostics and digital microscopy.

Follow the instructions below to enter our competition and win a prize!
How do I enter the competition?
The rules
Step 1: Build a microscope
Follow the instructions on the Water Droplet Magnifying Glass or Water Droplet Microscope page. We want you to build one of the microscopes, and use these to take images.

We don't mind which version you use, so you can capture images in whichever you find easier to set up.

Step 2: Capture Your Images
Use your microscope to capture some interesting images. We want you to be creative about the images you collect, so feel free to modify the design.

We'd especially love to see some biological images, but feel free to be creative. If you want to make some modifications to the basic microscope, then that's even better!

The image on the right shows the kind of thing we're looking for. This is a sample of a pine leaf, taken by OptoPlus engineer Matty Smith.

Step 3: Submit your pictures to us
We'd like you to take two sets of images:

An image of the water droplet microscope setup you are using to take the photos
Your best photos of your chosen sample

Once you have some images that you think are interesting, send them to us at optoplusengineering@gmail.com.

We will consider the best images and award them with prizes!

What are the prizes?
The prizes are yet to be confirmed, but they will likely be vouchers for an online store such as Amazon, at a value of around £50.

Part of the reason that we are not specific is because we want this to be an international contest and so winners may prefer that the prizes are issued in a local currency.
